Conservation District Seeks Citizen Advisory Committee Candidates for 2013 - 2016

McHenry County Conservation District is accepting applications for three members for their Citizens Advisory Committee to serve three-year terms.

Applications are due Thursday, May 16.

Application for Appointment—Citizens’ Adivisory Committee

Applicants should have a background relevant to the environmental issues of the District and be able to attend quarterly and special call meetings. Interested persons can forward applications, by May 16th, to MCCD@MCCDistrict.org or mail/drop off at Brookdale Administrative Offices, 18410 US Highway 14, Woodstock, IL 60098, M–F, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

Members serve as advocates for the District in a volunteer capacity. They are updated regularly on the numerous preservation, restoration and site improvement projects underway so that they can help communicate the mission of the District. The role of citizen members is to provide recommendations to the Conservation District Board of Trustees on issues relating to District services, programs and special projects.

Advisory committee members are appointed by the Conservation District Board of Trustees to serve a three-year renewable term. The committee members monitor the interests of county residents; explore opportunities that will enrich and support MCCD’s mission; participate in the District’s Master Site Plan process; and address other District issues as directed.

Applicants should have a background relevant to the environmental issues of the District and to the focus of the committee for which they are applying. Applicants should be able to attend quarterly and special call meetings of the assigned committee.

CURRENT CITIZENS’ ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBERS

McHenry County Conservation District’s Board of Trustees appointed nine new members to the Citizens’ Advisory Committee; Christine Grimm from Hebron; Adrienne Burman from Crystal Lake; Tim Scotellaro from Cary; Bob Paine from Crystal Lake; James Albright from McHenry; Beverly Dow from Harvard; Elaine Ramesh from Barrington Hills and Molly Oakford from Woodstock.

PAST PROJECTS — In the past the committee provided input to the Master Plan process for Lake in the Hills Fen, High Point, Winding Creek, and Kishwaukee Headwaters Conservation Areas. In addition, the Board of Trustees directed them to complete a task force study on Wind Energy feasibility, Community Gardens and Recreational Trends.
