WILDLIFE RESOURCE CENTER

Cleaning an owl enclosure

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum age 18; a registered District volunteer;
physically capable of carrying out the duties of the position they choose;
responsible, reliable and available at the times required by the position.

EXPERIENCE: Training is provided

SCHEDULE: Weekend or weekday schedule

LOCATION: Wildlife Resource Center, Wonder Lake

Additional information: The District has a hands-off, captive rearing program;
volunteers have minimal physical contact with animals.

Wildlife Resource Center volunteers assist with the care of animals that are part of the District’s feeder populations, captive reared species and educational programs. They assist with food preparation, cleaning and construction of cages, and assistance at education programs.

EDUCATION SERVICES

Assiting with a craft

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum age 14; a registered District volunteer;
physically capable of carrying out the duties of the position they choose;
responsible, reliable and available at the times required by the position.

EXPERIENCE: None. Must enjoy working with the public and be willing to take direction from the lead educator. 

TIME COMMITMENT/SCHEDULE: Opportunities exist weekdays, evenings, and weekends year-round. Attendance at Quarterly Gatherings provides Education volunteers with an occasion to socialize, sign up to volunteer for upcoming programs, and receive special training or enjoy a feature presentation.

LOCATION: Prairieview Education Center, Crystal Lake; Lost Valley Visitor Center in Glacial Park, Ringwood

Volunteers assist the Education staff with indoor special events and programs.

OFFICE & ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANCE

Helping with paperwork

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum age 16; a registered District volunteer;
physically capable of carrying out the duties of the position they choose;
responsible, reliable and available at the times required by the position.

EXPERIENCE: Basic computer knowledge and office skills

SCHEDULE: Weekdays

LOCATION: District facilities may include: Brookdale Administrative Offices, Woodstock; Prairieview Education Center, Crystal Lake; Lost Valley Visitor Center in Glacial Park, Ringwood

Office assistance, database input and receptionist skills are occasionally needed at various District facilities.
