Restoring & Preserving Coral Woods Conservation Area, Marengo
With over 400 acres, Coral Woods Conservation Area is one of the largest remaining wooded areas in McHenry County — yet it was once a vast 3,000 acre woodland comprised of centuries old red, white and bur oaks interspersed with areas of sugar maples. The Conservation District is dedicated to preserving, restoring and managing this unique natural area, and you can help. Donations to the Planting for Tomorrow program and involvement from individuals, families, groups and organizations will ensure that the remaining woods will exist for generations to come.
