Once there is 3-4 inches of snow, outdoor enthusiasts can glide across over 40 miles of Cross-Country Ski Trails throughout McHenry County Conservation District sites.
Cross-Country Skiing is available at fourteen District sites including: Brookdale, Coral Woods, Exner Marsh, Fel-Pro RRR, Fox Bluff, Glacial Park*, Harrison Benwell, Hebron Trail, Hickory Grove*, The Hollows*, Marengo Ridge*, Pleasant Valley*, Prairieview Education Center*, Rush Creek*, Silver Creek, Stickney Run, Prairie Trail North and along south end of the Prairie Trail from the Kane County line to McHenry.
* - indicates those sites that are groomed when there is 4 inches of snow or more.
The Glacial Park ski patrol is an independent volunteer group that monitors the trails at Glacial Park and operates the District’s only warming center.
