Photography / Film Permit 

What necessitates a permit
Photography/Videos
 will not require a permit provided that all of the following are met:
  1. The photos/videos are for personal use only.
  2. The group size is 15 or under.
  3. The individuals are not impacting any other site uses.
  4. The site/conservation area is one that is open to the public and
    using normal public use areas (not off trail).
  5. The individuals will be on site less than 45 minutes.
  6. No props, tables, chairs, etc. of any kind are being used.
If this criteria is not met then the event will need a photography permit. Any Photographer or Individuals not meeting these requirements may be subject to a fine.

Fees
Commercial / Portrait Photography (wedding, gradation, family etc.) Fees*
$25 Non Refundable Special Use Permit Application Fee
$150 per site/ per day – 6 hour limit; limit to four days per calendar year.
Certificate of Insurance required.
The site/conservation area is one that is open to the public and using normal public use areas (not off trail); during open hours – sunrise to sunset.  Special Conditions may be subject to additional fees.

Small Film Production – less than 15 people *
$25 Non Refundable Special Use Permit Application Fee
$200 per site / per day
$250/Refundable Security Deposit
Certificate of Insurance
If staff is needed on site: subject to review of permit $50-$100 per hour/per person

* McHenry County Conservation District reserves the right to assess additional fees based on the degree of impact to other site users, the site’s natural resources, and the staff time and services required to ensure a safe activity/event.
