Once there is 4 inches of snow, outdoor enthusiasts can glide over 40 miles of cross-country ski trails at 16 different sites throughout the county. Please check site closures and trail conditions before heading out. Trails marked with with a * will be packed and tracked when there is 4 inches of snow or more.

Hike or Ski on Solar Lighted Trails
Want to ski on solar lit trails? Two sites (Pleasant Valley and Hickory Grove HIghlands) over sections of solar-lit trail, open until 9 p.m. beginning in November.
Skate Ski Trail at Silver Creek
When you have a snowy winter, people are looking for more ways to get out and enjoy! Try the Skate Ski Trail at Silver Creek Conservation Area, 1200 Block of Rawson Bridge Road, Cary. A skate ski trail differs from a traditional cross- country ski trail by being packed, but not tracked. The trail at Silver Creek is a 1 ½ mile, relatively flat, trail loop.
Rent at Glacial Park!
Once there is 5″ of snow or more rent a pair of snowshoes from Lost Valley Visitor Center in Glacial Park.
$10 all day. Drivers’ license and $20 cash deposit required.
Rental Hours: 10:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (last rental at 2:30 p.m.)
Men’s, women’s, and children sizes available; first-come, first-served.
